JULY
9th-13th:
BENEDICTINE WEEK
Schools from the Up Holland and Skelmersdale area brought groups of children
to the church in order to find out about life in the village and to look
especially look at the part played by the Benedictine monks in the local
community 700 years ago.
For
the last few years there has been a large group of helpers from the congregation
and this has contributed enormously to the success of the week. This year
was no exception.
A BBC Radio
Lancashire interview with the Venerable Peter Bradley about this and other
anniversary events will appear on this site very soon - watch this space.

Sunday 15th: Archbishop of
York leads Thanksgiving service
Dr John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York, preached and led our worship
on this special thanksgiving service for the last 700 years. This was
one of the highlights of our Anniversary celebrations and we were absolutely
delighted to welcome him. Our church was at full capacity, which was great
to see. A page dedicated to this great event will soon appear on this
site, but in the meantime here are some photos from the event...

"None shall pass....unless your name is Dr John
Sentamu and you are the Archbishop of York!"

Grace.
