St
Thomas The Martyr was honoured back in 2007 to be one of the first
Church / School partnerships to be awarded the coveted Child Friendly
Church Award. This was in recognition of the hard work that goes
on within the parish to support the development of our children.
Please
find below a list of the many activities that take place to support
our childrens' growing of Christian faith and personal development. |
CHILDREN
are VERY WELCOME and are encouraged to play a full part in the life of
the church.
At the 10.00
a.m. Parish communion on Sundays there is LITTLE CHURCH for the 3 - 8
year olds whose parents are in church.
Play Bags for the TINY TOTS are available at all services.
Disabled
and pram access, and good toilet and nappy changing facilities are available.

Guild of Servers
For members of the church aged 8 - adult who are confirmed and would like
to provide assistance to the clergy in the running of services.

Youth Group
10 - 18's - informal get-togethers and outings - Involved in the Youth
Pilgrimage to Walsingham held every August

Youth Praise and Pizza Party
By young people for young people. Music and atmosphere, modern technology,
interactive prayers and reflections - and of course pizza!! - held at
Christ the Servant Church Digmoor (At St Thomas the Martyr Church on May
22nd)
Dare
to be Different Band
An opportunity to make music. Musical talent and/or ambition always welcome.
Services led by the band are arranged at intervals throughout the year.

Kaleidoscope
Some leaders have completed the Kaleidoscope training course for those
who work with children in church.
All leaders and helpers are CRB checked and cleared

It is offered to choldren age 8 upwards

Schools
There are 2 church schools attached to STM - St Thomas The Martyr Primary
School and Roby Mill Promary School
Both schools hold services in the church during the year
Benedictine
Week
The church is open for school visits and for one week in July, it is 'dressed
up' to receate the feel of the days when it was a Benedictine Priory.
The children are taken back in time to experience life in the Benedictine
Priory by, for example, allowing them to dress up and wander round church
kilr in the old days.
