The Festival took place straight after the procession at St Thomas the Martyr School and playing fields and continued to approximately 5pm.

Saturday 20th June 2009 saw a fantastic spectacle of colour, community and celebration in Up Holland as the whole community got together for a Pageant Parade through Up Holland and Festival on the fields of St Thomas the Martyr CE Primary School, Mill Lane, Up Holland. Here's what's happened...

PROCESSION

1pm: the Pageant Procession depicting the Year Of The Child left from the field at the junction of Ormskirk Road and Newgate Road.

Route
from Darfield, up Ormskirk Road turning left into Mill Lane, left into Mayfield Road and left again into Highfield Road.
The floats wil stop outside the school gates and all those involved in the procession will be directed onto the school playing fields

FESTIVAL

Skelmersdale Walking Band Little Digmoor School Cheerleaders
Maypole Dancing Coverdale Puppets
Karate Demonstration Christ the Servant Brigade Band
Up Holland High School Band Barber Shop Choir
Plastersine Dance Styles School of Dance
The Huers: busking medieval style  

Attractions and sideshows included:

Bouncy castle Football skills and activities
Lancashire Hawks and Owls Face painting and balloon modelling
Plate smashing Blacksmith
Roundabout Jester
Town Crier Vintage Fire Engine
Police Horses  

Stalls included: books, toys, sweets, bric-a-brac, tombola, nail technicians, crafts, raffle, Traidcraft, Teddy Tombola, White Elephant, fancy goods.

Medieval Market: plants, herbs, cheese, bread, cakes, jams, pies, BBQ, vegetables

Refreshments: tea, coffee, scones, cakes, hot dogs, ice cream, tuck shop, candy floss
