UP HOLLAND PAGEANT: THE PROCESSION

1pm Pageant Parade
The procession left Darfield (field at the corner of Newgate Road and Ormskirk Road) at 1pm, as soon as the Skelmersdale to Wigan Arriva bus had passed!
It consisted of floats and walking groups depicting various stages of the life and history of Up Holland.
The procession headed up Ormskirk Road, up to the roundabouts at Hall Green, turned left down Mill Lane, left into Mayfield Road and then finally left into Highfield Road, where the floats stopped. The walking groups and those who travelled on floats continued their procession on to the St Thomas The Martyr Primary School playing fields.
St Thomas's Primary School float celebrated People In History This was St Thomas's confirmation group, resplendent in gowns and following their banner
Skelmersdale Prize Band provided the music at the front of the procession St Teresa's Catholic Primary School celebrated The Two Elizabeths, both of whom ruled during the life of our church. This 'ship' represented Queen Elizabeth II
Christ The Servant showed us what life was like in the the 1800s, when mining was one of the main industries in Up Holland Up Holland Youth Group provided various historical memories of the last 700 years
This was St Teresa's'ship' representing Elizabeth I Alma Hill Methodist Church celebrated the life and times of John Wesley
